About Mattro

With more than 15 years of experience in battery technology and over a decade of field-proven UGV operation, Mattro combines practical engineering with deep system integration expertise.

Mattro’s roots are in electric vehicle technology, with in-house lithium-ion battery development from the very beginning. Early products such as the Ziesel, and our Energy Packs laid the foundation for today’s focus on robust UGV platforms and high-performance battery systems.

This background enables us to develop electric mobility solutions built for real-world use—reliable, modular, and designed for demanding environments.

We create the next generation of UGVs with advanced electrical mobility systems that are reliable, modular, and built for real world challenges.

Your mission. Our platform.

From alpine roots to electric UGV platforms

2006

FOUNDATION DRIVEN BY PRACTICE

Mattro is founded in Schwaz, Austria, by vehicle builder Alois Bauer. From the beginning, the focus is on real-world applications rather than purely theoretical engineering—driven by a passion for off-road mobility and demanding terrain.

2011

PRESENTATION OF THE STEINBOCK HX1

With the Steinbock HX1, Mattro presents a hybrid off-road vehicle developed for demanding operations. Designed for applications such as mountain rescue and infrastructure support, it proves the company’s early capability to engineer powerful electric drivetrains.
